Do you ever feel like you want to make a difference in your community but don’t know where to start? Well, luckily for you, there are plenty of ways to get involved! From volunteering at your local library to becoming a mentor, there are many ways to make a difference in your community. And we’ve got the scoop on all the best ways to get started. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to take action and make a difference! Check out our list of 10 GREAT ways to get involved in your community below.

Join a local group or organization that aligns with your interests

If you’re looking for a fun and fulfilling way to spend your free time, consider joining a local organization or group that aligns with your interests. You can find something to suit just about any passion under the sun, whether it’s a running club, book club, pottery collective, reptile rescue…let’s face it, if you can think of something weird and niche enough, there’s probably already a group dedicated to it. You don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home – many organizations offer virtual memberships so you can take part remotely with minimal effort! Imagine all the possibilities – now who’s ready to sign up?!

Volunteer your time to help out at a local event or charity

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in a never-ending cycle of scrolling through Netflix, you should consider taking a break and volunteering your time to help out at a local event or charity. It’s not as daunting as it sounds and mostly involves tasks that require little brainpower; however, it can give back so much more! Volunteering is an amazing way to make connections with new people, explore unfamiliar places, and make the world around you a better place. Plus, the occasional free snack isn’t a bad perk either! So why not get out of that Netflix slump and make an impact on your community?

Donate money or goods to a local cause or family in need

If you’re looking for a way to make your bank account sing, donating money or goods to a local cause or family in need is definitely a tune worth tooting. Going above and beyond the call of duty has never been so easy, letting you show off to your friends and neighbors that you are an upstanding citizen with a heart of gold! And even better, you get to experience the satisfaction of helping someone just by opening your wallet or gift closet; it’s truly an easy way to do some good in the world. Who knew giving could feel this good? So toss those coins into the collection plate and find out what giving back can really mean!

Spread awareness about an important issue in your community

There’s always something going on in our community that needs attention! From food security and environmental sustainability, to education initiatives and health services, making sure everyone has access to the resources they need is of utmost importance. Going out of our way to spread awareness is a great way to keep the conversation going. Personally, I’m a big fan of utilizing social media and funny memes to get people talking – if it gets them ‘liking’ and sharing then it’s job done! If we all make a little effort, we can help ensure that everyone in our community is taken care of – which isn’t half bad for a bit of laughter-filled awareness spreading!

Stand up for what you believe in and stand up to bullying or discrimination

We all know what it’s like to want to stand up for something we’re passionate about, or to put a stop to something that’s wrong. But let’s face it: standing up against a bully or discriminating person can feel intimidating, not to mention downright hilarious! It often requires some courage and confidence, but if you know what you believe in and are willing to take risks and make your voice heard, then there’s no stopping you! Gathering together with like-minded people – or even going solo – can be an incredibly empowering experience. Just remember the golden rule: don’t fight back with bullying or discrimination yourself, but use your voice in the most productive manner possible. Who knows? Maybe you’ll start a revolution!
